It may not be in quite the same league as Jane Campion's movie masterpiece, but the discovery of a piano on Turakina Beach, about 20km south of Wanganui, has local residents wondering what's going on
Writer and actor Peter Hawes, pictured, who lives at the beach, said news of the find at the weekend spread quickly and it is already becoming an icon. The origin of the Walter Collinson upright is a mystery, but Mr Hawes says a piano of the same make was recently offered for sale on the internet trading site TradeMe by a Palmerston North resident.
