Hold on tight!

Today, in some places on Whidbey Island, there are wind gusts of 48mph. Around our place the birds are hanging onto the feeder perches for dear life, just trying to grab a few seeds before the wind sends the feeder into carousel motion. The wind chimes are playing a double time unmelodious sound.

And out in Useless Bay the whitecaps are being rushed to the shore by the stiff wind. If anyone plans on being out in this weather, they had better hold on to their hat, or they will be chasing it.
My plans for the day are to fill the couple of thermos jugs with hot coffee, prepare food we can eat if the power goes out, then find an interesting book to read, and cosy down in my favorite chair.

You all have a wonderful day.

With mains power reliability as bad as you seem to have it up there, what you should be doing is test-starting your whole-house generator set, and seeing to it's fuel supply.

For the life of me, I can't understand those who gladly use the bounty of electricity, but don't care to take the easy steps to produce it on their own when the power people can't get it to you.

Providing this necessity for my family would come even before guns, and you KNOW that category is very important to me.

George, we are way ahead of you, MrC has already checked out the generator, in fact did that a couple of weeks ago. I just like to have hot coffee and snacks ready to roll with out having to bother to fix them during a power outage. I will cook a meal when the time comes around, the thing is, we are never certain how long the power will stay off. It could be an hour or two or several days.

Hi Keewee, Do hold on to your hat!!! We too are experiencing high winds. They closed 7 miles of I-90 because the winds actually blew over many cars and even semi's off the road. The whole West Coast seems to be in the middle of a terrible weather event!
